CATALOG OF SOURCES

The list below catalogs the informants for the songs in the Heritage Songbook. The emphasis is on lyrics, but where tunes were found in the Upper Midwest, I have listed sources for those also. The list includes both songs in the printed Heritage Songbook and those in the online appendix (shown in italics). Note: I have not tried to catalog all the "pop" songbooks I consulted; the books cited here are only those consisting of field collections or publications of early sheet music.
